Diverse Children’s Books that Teach Financial Literacy
Long gone are the days of that one high school class on balancing a checkbook. Today’s teens so motivated they are creating super PACS. Our responsibility is to prepare and educate them to the best of our ability, and that includes finances. I implore you to start giving the children in your life a head start on this important subject of financial literacy starting today. Today, I give you a list of my favorite books about finances to get kids thinking about their secure future even from birth.
Children’s Books for Teaching Kids About Financial Literacy
Teaching children about saving up after a disaster seems to be more relevant than ever with fires, hurricanes, typhoons ravaging our Earth as of late due to lack of attention to climate change by some of the world leaders. Using current events can make reading about financial literacy extremely easy for teachers and parents/caregivers.

You Can’t Buy a Dinosaur With a Dime
Clink, clink, clink, clink…Clink, clink, clinkity… Money saved in a bank makes your brain think-thinkity! Children are fascinated by money – how it looks, feels, smells, and most of all, what it buys. And Pete is no exception. The rhymed verse describes how Pete saves his allowance, spends too much of it, has second thoughts, and starts over.
Young readers will not only applaud Pete’s decisions, but join him in his computations as he saves, spends, and strategizes over future purchases. The lively combination of fact and fiction, plus humorous art, will prove both thought-provoking and thoroughly enjoyable
