How to Celebrate Nelson Mandela Day
Every year on July 18th, we celebrate Nelson Mandela Day. Mandela is one of the world’s most famous peacemakers. He spent 67 years as a freedom fighter, as well as becoming the first black president of South Africa. He was a legendary man who broke down 50 years of segregation through apartheid. We honor his legacy everyday, however I want to encourage fighting for human rights in your own communities every day, but especially on this special day.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela
